As you can see, the Vikings vs. Broncos game is about more than football. It’s about the future of heaven as we know it.
Actually, since Andy Dalton is not involved, it’s one of a few battles for football heaven I guess.
Anyway, as everyone knows, Tim Tebow is the best and biggest Christian to walk the face of Earth since Jesus Christ. Heck, most of the people in Denver think he is Our Lord and Savior. Well, except for John Elway, who thinks Jesus should be doing better at converting third downs … which I agree with. John Elway is the man.
Tebow has been a polarizing figure since he graduated from Florida and his potential as an NFL quarterback started to come up. Personally, I think he is the best throwing fullback in the history of the league. The man just wins games, and a lot has to be said for that, but Denver is basically running a version of the Wildcat with a fullback at the helm because the man has a completion percentage of my uncle during the annual Thanksgiving Day game. Let’s just say it’s a modified version of 500 because all we do is go deep because he can’t hit any other route.
But Tebow is already going down as one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time by half of the country. Why? Because he is a devout Christian, which he makes sure to mention ALL of the time.
Look, I have no problem with Christians. I am one. I believe in God and I believe there is a heaven and hell. I believe I am going to hell after this post unless I go to confession soon and say a ton of Hail Marys and Our Fathers within the next week.
It is the way Tebow goes about it. He makes you guilty for not believing in him. He does not flat out say it, but he kills you with kindness, in a backlash way. He said he is just living his dream and so be it. It is working for him and I am glad. But what happens when teams learn to defend him and he is still living his dream and his team is losing and he is ruining his teammates’ dreams?
He will be the first to thank God, but mainly when the mics are around. I am sure God was really proud of him dancing around in his underwear in a commercial once.
To me, Tebow is buddy Jesus. For those of you who do not know, Buddy Jesus was the new figure that the Catholic church rolled out to have a better image with the youth in the movie Dogma. That is what Tebow is to me. A guy that the church, not just the Catholic church, loves having out there because it will make people think about their faith.
However, if I remember the scripture readings, Jesus never threw himself in the public eye the way that Tebow has. While Jesus did draw many crowds and performed many miracles, he was quiet about it. He used stories to tell the works of God, and yes, he was flashy every now and again. But Jesus relied mostly on his works instead of his mouth to get things done. I do not envision Jesus playing to today’s cameras the way Tebow does.
Which is why I brought up Andy Dalton earlier. He is just as devoted of a Christian as Tim Tebow, but why are people not talking about him the same way they are talking about Tebow? Because he is not throwing himself at the media any chance he gets. He just works at getting better as a quarterback and a person at the same time. Anyone that heard him after the Rose Bowl last year knows he loves God just as much as Tebow
Dalton is the kind of Christian I root for. The guy who lets his actions speak for themselves and does not flaunt to the media. He has had every chance to and he does not. When he is on he will make a reference, but it is not nearly as vocal as what Tebow does.
Christian Ponder is kind of the same way. I have seen him tweet about God and such and I know he is a Christian, but he is not flaunting it either. He is just going about his business … except the Vikings can’t seem to win games.
That is why I am not on the Tebow bandwagon. He flaunts it and does not seem to work on ways to get better as a quarterback just because his team is winning at the moment. However, Detroit squashed him in the hardest game he has had. If he keeps it up, he is going to lose his spotlight to flaunt to everyone how spotless of a Christian he is.
Denver has a nice thing going here, but Elway knows what’s up. He knows Tebow has a long ways to go as a quarterback. He knows he has a great defense, though. Von Miller has been a beast and one of the main reasons, along with Willis McGahee, that Denver is winning.
Unfortunately, Minnesota is going to lose this game. The Vikings’ savior, Purple Jesus Adrian Peterson, has been ruled out for the game. Even with him, Minnesota does not have the blocking to get him consistent running room. Minnesota lost Michael Jenkins, which may not seem like a big loss but the Vikings do not really have many options on offense. So Percy Harvin will be double teamed since he is the only legit threat Minnesota has.
So, the defense will give up at least a couple of scores since it will be on the field all of the time, allowing Tebow, aka Buddy Jesus, and his legend to grow even more.
Well, at least there will be crazy entertainment for a while…
